A question of Etiquette in Islam?

I noticed a headline in the news recently that said our city had a very fast growing Middle Eastern population. The number of mosques a few years ago was 3 now there are plans and construction currently on 14 mosques. Islam is undeniably one of the fastest growing religions in South Texas as well as nation wide. I think this is pretty cool. I just have a few questions respectfully so. I notice that dietary laws are similar to orthodox Judaism, Judaism does not allow for the shaving of the beard and the head if I am not mistaken. In Islam is there a similar law in the Holy Quran that forbids the shaving of the head or beard? And if there are any good web sites you would suggest it would be appreciated.
