How come some football players never learn?

When players are literally catered to by coaches and adults when they show superior hand-eye coordination in youth leagues, given superstar treatment in high school and virtually run a college campus due to celebrity status...what can anyone expect. So many people have gotten these guys out of problems over the years that the mentality is that rules don't apply and fixing things is only a phone call away.
